NeumaCare, best startup at the Premis TIC Catalunya Sud 2026

There are moments that invite a startup to pause, look back and take stock of the road travelled. NeumaCare received the Best Startup award at the Premis TIC Catalunya Sud 2026 on September 16, 2026, at firaReus Events, an initiative promoted by REDESSA and the Clúster TIC Catalunya Sud, with the support of the Diputació de Tarragona.

NeumaCare works on a question that rarely appears in the medical record: what happens when the healthcare environment increases stress, disrupts rest or heightens a patient's sense of vulnerability, instead of supporting their wellbeing? Hospitals are designed to diagnose, treat and save lives, but constant noise, lighting poorly adapted to biological rhythms or certain smells can make a stay a more hostile experience.

NeumaCare is developing an ambient intelligence platform for healthcare environments. Its solution, NC-Healthcare, is already being tested in real hospital settings and combines:

• Sensory technology, coordinating light, sound and scent.
• Ambient intelligence, to interpret the conditions of each space.
• Centralised management software, to configure sessions, schedules and routines.
• Personalisation, by patient, time of day, room or the centre's needs.

The Premis TIC Catalunya Sud recognise companies, professionals and initiatives that contribute to the technological, economic and social development of southern Catalonia. The third edition drew a record 41 applications, 70% more than in each of the two previous editions. The jury included REDESSA, the Clúster TIC Catalunya Sud, Tarragona Impulsa, the Diputació de Tarragona, the Universitat Rovira i Virgili and i2CAT, among other regional institutions.

A year ago, NeumaCare was an idea on paper and many hypotheses to validate. Today, after many tests, iterations and lessons learned, this award tells us we are moving in the right direction. There is still a long way to go, but it is also important to pause for a moment and appreciate everything we have already built.

The ceremony brought together around a hundred professionals at firaReus Events, opening with a talk by Miquel Martí, CEO of Tech Barcelona, on the challenges of innovation ecosystems, and closing with remarks from the mayor of Reus, Sandra Guaita, on the transformative power of the region's emerging companies.

The third edition also recognised Synkotech Biocompatible Materials (disruptive technology), Macaque Consulting (growth and expansion), AlgaNova Biotech (sustainability and green technology) and Ingrid Canal, founder of Alongside (women's leadership in technology).

The award adds to other recent NeumaCare milestones: best startup at Programa Primer 2025, best business project at the Premis Emprèn Dipta, and the first usability tests in a real hospital environment.

The next steps involve continuing to improve the technology, expanding collaboration with healthcare professionals and centres, and generating the clinical evidence needed to grow responsibly.
